From today you will see some changes in how Clifford Gouldson describes its areas of practice. Most notably we have added a new Business + Corporate Advisory practice area.

We have also renamed the Commercial + Property practice area to Property + Business Transactions.

So our primary practice areas are now:

  • Property + Business Transactions;
  • Business + Corporate Advisory;
  • Workplace;
  • Litigation + Dispute Resolution;
  • Intellectual Property;
  • Wills, Estates, Planning + Structuring; and
  • Construction.

Rather than new services or advice this new practice area is more of a realigning of existing services that had previously been offered across the rest of the firm.

By grouping them together we hope to give better clarity to the growing number of existing and new clients who are seeking advice in the business and corporate area.

Similarly, the renaming of Property + Business Transactions is intended to bring clarity to the work this outstanding group of transactional lawyers do.

The new practice area will be headed up by our Managing Director Ben Gouldson and will draw together key expertise and experience from other existing practice areas.

Ben said, “Like so many of our decisions at CGLaw, this one is driven by feedback and advice from our clients.”

“We’ve heard from clients and business colleagues alike that they either weren’t aware we offered services in this area or were unclear about who to contact to ask about the sorts of issues that this practice area entails.”

“This realignment is also a reflection of our growing and developing legal practice. We have more large and corporate clients than ever before and we need to reflect this in how we offer our services.”

The new practice area will cover legal services and advice including:

  • Entity establishment and advice including sole traders, companies, trusts, joint ventures & partnerships;
  • Business structuring;
  • Constitutional matters;
  • Company law;
  • General commercial law matters;
  • Due diligence and legal risk audits;
  • Corporate governance and strategies;
  • Trust deed matters;
  • Capital raising, including private equity and debt funding;
  • Commercial contracts, terms & conditions;
  • Shareholder, unitholder or partnership agreements;
  • Business and asset protection, restructuring and succession; and
  • Company, business and domain name advice.
