The success of Clifford Gouldson Lawyer’s recent Artist-in-Residence program has benefitted Protea Place charity to the tune of $3,237.
CGLaw Director Amanda Tolson said, “After COVID brought a very challenging period to our Arts Community, we were very excited to relaunch our Artist-in-Residence Program in 2021.”
The CGLaw Artist-in-Residence program offers a local artist the opportunity to collect a weekly stipend over eight weeks while also working and creating in the same environment as the firm’s legal teams.
At the conclusion of the residency CGLaw hosts a launch event for the artist to display their works for sale around the office and to put one main piece up for auction.
This year the CGLaw Artist-in-Residence was LeAnne Vincent, an award winning, photo-based visual artist creating conceptual images that investigate human behaviour and environments by drawing inspiration from natural and urban areas, public and private spaces and shared memories.
Amanda said, “There are benefits in this program to our local arts community, to our own team, to the artist and also to one nominated charity each year.”
“This year the charity of choice was Protea Place, which I’m proud to have been involved in from its inception.”
“A proportion of proceeds from all art sold on the night, and 100% of the proceeds of the auctioned piece, for a total of $3,237 will benefit the valuable work Protea Place does in supporting women in need.”
LeAnne said, “Supporting local people in need is important to me and this residency allowed me to do that by donating a portion of the sales of artworks and the proceeds of the auctioned artwork to Protea Place.”
“I also had the opportunity to meet the team at Protea Place and learn about the vital role they play in supporting women in the Toowoomba region.”
